Pretty awesome grades, right?!
Well, I'm not bragging, they're not mine.
This is my sons most recent report card.
When I returned to school I had concerns that my school schedule and homework might have an adverse affect on my kids school performance.
I have been so happy to see that the opposite is actually true. I think that my kids see the importance I place on getting an education and they are learning to do the same. Some nights we sit at the kitchen table and do homework together. My children have grown more responsible. My son who used to require prodding from me now keeps track of his own school work, he does projects ahead of time instead of the night before they are due, and he works very hard to do a good job. He has goals for his future and wants to go to college.
I'm so proud of him and happy that what I am doing is having such a positive influence on my kids!

Goofing around Saturday morning

I think my kids might have been bored this morning. When I got out of the shower and came into my bedroom this is what I found. My kids assured me that I don't really look anything like this pencil drawing that is wearing my clothes.I hope the clothes fit me better than this too!

Graduation and Earth Fest

Wow, time flies when you are having fun!
The semester is almost at an end already. Next week is finals week. I have one more class this Friday and then 4 finals and 1 paper due next week to finish things up.
Things have been busy here at the Brigham Campus.
Our Graduation ceremony was held April 17 at Box Elder Middle School. Dean Hubbard was the commencement speaker and the student speakers were Jeremy Barber, our VP, and Morgan Christensen. Vice Provost Ronda Menlove presented the graduates with their diplomas. I've never been to a graduation ceremony before, except when I graduated from high school of course. I was very impressed. I gave me something to look forward to one year from now.
This week the Brigham campus along with the Box Elder News Journal hosted Earth Fest on Wednesday April 21st. We had a fair where families could come and try out an electricity powered bike or scooter, plant some seeds, take home a blue spruce tree seedling, learn about ways to reuse, reduce and recycle, tour the new play garden here on campus, or many other activities. Alpine Gardens presented a couple of workshops on landscaping and water wise gardening. There was even a drawing where we gave away a lot of cool things including a lawn mower, stepping stones, t-shirts, and gift certificates for Alpine Gardens plus a lot of other things other things. We had a pretty good turn out and I think it was a success.

Peacocks

Look what we found in our backyard this morning...
5 PEACOCKS!
Actually some of them might be peahens, but we don't know how to tell the difference between a young male who doesn't have his fancy tail feathers yet and a female. They have been visiting our yard occasionally for the last week, but they have usually stayed towards the back of our yard in the trees where we can't see them very well. This morning they ventured down right next to our patio and I was able to take these pictures from my kitchen window. I don't have any idea where they came from or who they belong to but we are enjoying watching them when they visit our yard. This morning one of them even spread his tail feathers and strutted around showing off. They spent a couple of hours walking around eating bugs and then stretched out on the lawn in the sun. They seem to be enjoying the spring weather just like I am!

Wednesday

A couple of months ago I did an entry on what a day in my life looks like but I thought you'd have to be pretty bored to sit and read that whole thing. So I thought I'd do another "day in my life "entry, but make this one a little easier to follow. I just gave my camera to my kids and told them to take pictures of everything I did all day.

Congratulations!

I was on the committee that interviewed applicants for the Student Government President and Vice President for next year. We held the interviews on Wednesday and had some really excellent candidates to choose from. I am happy to report our decision...next years president will be Clair Hawkins and the Vice president will be his wife Mckinzie Hawkins. I know that they will do a great job, they are full of enthusiasm and love the Brigham City Campus. So, if you see them at school tell them congratulations! I would say that I am sad to be leaving, but I'm not really leaving. I still have at least another year until I graduate so I will continue to be here on the Brigham Campus as a student, and I am also just moving to another position. Next year I will be the Regional Campus Appointed Representative for the Associated Students at Utah State University. If that title just left you confused then to rephrase in simple English, I will be the person who represents non-traditional and distance education students at the Main campus in Logan. I will be working with ASUSU and the Student Government officers at all of the Regional Campuses. I just found out this week that I had been elected to this position and I am very excited about it. I will enjoy working with Clair, McKinzie, and all of the new Student Government Officers.
