Redneck

A friend told me yesterday that I'm now officially a redneck. He said that according to Jeff Foxworthy, if any of your furniture came out of a vehicle you are a redneck.

So...there is actually a story behind this. When we started our living room project, we took all of the furniture out of the room. I needed to use my suburban to go and pick up some wood so I took the back seat out. Because it was raining I just sat it in my house intending to put it back in the vehicle after I unloaded the wood. When I came home my kids had put the seat to good use.
Oh, I also decided that I wanted my kitchen and Living room to be more open so I'm opening the doorway between them to about 5 or 6 feet. My son had a lot of fun with the demolition on this wall. I think I'm going to like it, Both rooms already feel bigger and more spacious even with the 2x4's still in place. I'm waiting for my hubby to have time to help me frame up the new opening so that it will actually be done right.
I had to take a break from the project this morning to take a test in my online class. I am having so much fun with my project that I have to remind myself to pay attention to my my schoolwork.

Do you ever get so tired of studying that you just want to do this?

Just kidding!
I actually only have one class this summer and I am enjoying it.
This is the beginning of another project. I may have mentioned in the past that I live in an old house that needs a lot of work. We decided to tackle the living room this summer. We are really not doing anything major, mostly just cosmetic stuff. In this picture I am tearing out an old flue that is no longer needed. We are planning to texture the ceiling, paint, put up new molding and lights, add a wood burning stove and a glass door into the entry way, and replace the really hideous old carpet with wood flooring.
Here are a couple of "before" pictures and I will follow up this summer with more pictures as the project progresses.

Lucy Sings

Lucy Lu has a funny trick that we all love. When we come home she greets us by "singing." We are trying to train her to sing on command instead of just when we get home. She hasn't quite caught on yet but we love her songs so much that we'll keep working with her until she gets it. As you can see she has her summer haircut, its not as cute as the usual schnauzer cut but it is much cooler for her and easier for us to keep the burrs out of it
